resolutions are for losers.

Like many of you, at the beginning of the year I came up with a beautiful list of new year's resolutions. Happy, shiny, confident, optimistic resolutions. I shared them all with you in this post. Titled, "i resolve to..." but really should have been titled, "i resolve to fail." or "i resolve to have good intentions." or maybe "i resolve to go half-ass."

Any of those titles would have worked just fine. Because, you see, I have completely failed on all of my happy little resolutions. Let's review, shall we?

1) Delight in the Lord.
Now, don't get me wrong here... the Lord is still good. And thankfully, He doesn't depend on my effort or faithfulness for His awesomeness. But my resolution here was to begin the reading plan in my new bible... Well... according to that reading plan, this technically means I should have read through all of Genesis, half way through Exodus, all of Matthew, all of Mark, and through Psalms 1-36. Ummmm.... yeah... I have read Psalms 1-9. That's it. So much for good intentions.

2) Delight in being healthy.
Right... So far, I have gone to the gym zero times. Yep, you heard me... zero. I have, however, eaten a few vegetables. They are covered in ranch dressing, no-less... but totally besides the point. I bought a big tray of vegetables back in the beginning of January, with big plans of snacking on these in my spare time... But in reality, they just sat in the fridge for weeks, and eventually I had to throw them out, and almost gagged on the horrid smell of rotten cauliflower. Gross.

3) Delight in commitment.
Part one of this resolution was to commit to finishing my 30 by 30 list. I still feel pretty good about this one. However... part two of this resolution was to commit to wearing and finishing my invisalign trays. Notsomuch. I have worn them one night since I made this resolution. One. Which I guess is one more than I made it to the gym.

4) Delight in reading.
This one seems to be completely dependent on my travel schedule. If I am flying somewhere, I will read. At least a little bit. Seeing that I have 3 trips planned in the next 3 weeks (all of which involve an airplane), I'm hoping I can actually finish a book this month.

5) Delight in memory making.
This resolution involved me doing things that were actually worthy of remembering... and then actually documenting them. I think I have part one down... and as for part two, I am working on it. Mainly this means that I keep a bunch of crap (aka mementos) and pile them up somewhere thinking I will scrapbook them or something... then can't remember what the heck I was keeping that pile for... Again with the good intentions.

What about you? Did you make resolutions this year? How are they going? If they are going really well, I don't want to hear about it...
