I can hardly believe you are four years old today. FOUR. It seems like just yesterday that I was writing you a note on your third birthday. A full year has come and gone, and now I completely understand the saying, "the days are long, but the years are short." We've definitely had our long days, but man, oh man, I wouldn't trade them for the world.
You are truly a gift to all who meet you. Your smile lights up a room and touches the deepest part of my soul. I have so loved watching you grow this past year. You are quite the talker... always telling me about your friends at "new school", your favorite teachers, what your baby dolls are doing, asking me who sings this or that, how much you love daddy, how Little Cat is your best fwiend... we have conversations. Like real-deal conversations. Conversations that leave me both in awe and laughing hysterically.
You know just what to do to make mommy and daddy laugh. You are full of spunk and giggles. You are compassionate. Your tiny-four-year-old-self is full of more compassion than most adults. You are genuinely concerned for others. You instinctively know if I'm having a tough day and are quick to pat my back, look at me with your deep, kind eyes and ask me, "you alwight mama?" Your patience and kindheartedness challenges me to be more like you.
You love anything Toy Story these days and have seen movies 1, 2 and 3 multiple times. You got Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Bullseye all for Christmas this year, and watching your face as you opened those gifts was priceless. You choose to watch music videos over most cartoons... Katy Perry and Taylor Swift being your current favorites. You LOVE to dance... all day, everyday. You started your first ballet/tap dance class this year and you killed your first recital. I know I'm a little biased, but you were definitely the cutest thing on that stage. You're into firetrucks and airplanes and are super pumped about your firetruck birthday party this weekend. When anyone asks what you want for your birthday, you simply respond with "chocolate." A girl after my own heart, I tell ya.
Sweet Zara girl, your daddy and I couldn't be more proud of the little person you are becoming. You have our whole hearts. We love you so much.
forever & always,
daddy & mama
