Winter here in Louisville has been pretty mild thus far... and you won't hear any complaints from me about that. I prefer my winters short and sweet... and I typically feel the same way about snow. Really, one snow a year is plenty... and actually, if that one snow could happen on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day... even better.
I don't hate it. I just prefer to enjoy snow from indoors... with hot chocolate. All the layering of clothes is just plain exhausting. How do you northerners do this all.winter.long??
BUT, all that to say, watching a little one squeal about snow and such does make it just a tad more tolerable...
Like a pro dad, Lance made sure to buy his baby girl some good snow pants before the weather hit. We found these perfect Northface pants 40% off, and in the next size up, so they're sure to fit for at least one more winter.
Zara made her very first snow angel...
We tried out a batch of "snow cream" and it was a huge hit. We used fresh snow, sweetened condensed milk, sugar, and a dash of vanilla... and sprinkles of course. For the next winter storm, we're going to make an adult-only batch... perhaps with a bit of bourbon or amaretto.
Did I mention that daddy was also brilliant enough to buy a sled? I'm pretty sure it was the last sled in the entire city of Louisville too. Zara was beyond excited. She was literally chanting "SLEDDING! SLEDDING! SLEDDING!" when she woke up on Saturday.
After going down the hill with mommy and daddy a handful of times, this independent girl was ready to tackle the task all by herself... and she absolutely loved it.
After sledding, we warmed up by sitting on the vents, snacking on some white cheddar Cheetos (Have you had these?!?! So good!) And mama tried her hand at some new triangle parts and braids.
We had lunch with some friends on Sunday... friends that quickly moved up the "cool" list for Zara after we discovered Ms. Linda's secret balloon animal skills.
We closed out the weekend with a quick trip to the Zappos distribution warehouse (mama's favorite)... this place never disappoints. I have to limit myself to one visit a year. Looks like I might have the same problem with my little mini-me:) #SHOES
Overall, such a great weekend. The perfect balance of cozy indoor snuggles and exciting outdoor adventures.
